Inside a Giant Baobab Tree

Giant Baobab Tree 300x225 Inside a Giant Baobab Tree

Let’s have some adventures, shall we? Today’s post comes to you from the wonderful country of South Africa.

We were driving from Phalaborwa (Pal-a-bore-a) to Polokwane (Pole-a-kwan-e) when our host suggested we stop and see the Giant Baobab Tree. It was a quick diversion on our trip through the City of Tzaneen (Za-neen). See for yourself in the YouTube video.

Where Do I Want To Travel?

Where do you want to travel? Have you ever thought about it? I think about it all the time. And after talking about it for awhile, I’m finally pleased to share it with you… My Adventure List!

What is an adventure list you may be asking? It’s a compilation of all the places I want to go, and where I’ve been. I’ve found that if you write things down, you can check back on a regular basis and assess your progress. You can plan where you want to go next, and more importantly, save for that trip-of-a-lifetime. It’s a motivator.

Ultimate Thailand Explorers: What I Learned Part 4 of 4

Today’s post wraps up my 4-part series about my experience as a travel blogger in the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Contest. If you’d like to read the first one click here. And for my second post, click here.  And for the third, click here.

Today’s post is all about where to go next. What’s in store for adventureswithben.com based on what I learned?

2010 Priorities

There’s a lot on my “to do” list here at adventureswithben.com. Read my post on New Year’s Resolutions for some detail. In no particular order here’s what I need to do…

Vote for a Travel Tagline

Part of the vision for this site is to inspire you to travel. In my Ultimate Thailand Explorers Blog I ended each post with “I’ll see you out there”. It harkened back to the idea of bringing readers on our journey through Pattaya.

I liked the idea of a tagline. It reinforces the goal of the site and will hopefully act as a call to action to all of you out there. From now until February 6th you can vote for your favorite tagline. I’ve created a poll to make it all happen.

Here’s it is. Now vote…!

Where Should I Travel in 2010?

Way back in August I wrote a post about Creating an Adventure List. Essentially I wrote down on a pad all the places I want to see and visit in Florida. I have a list for destinations around the world that I’ll post on this site here at some point. Each year I review this list and plan where I want to go next. And I’m excited to say announce that the destination for 2010 is going to be…

Australia!

What do you think? I think it’s absolutely fantastic.

Ultimate Thailand Explorers: What I Learned Part 3 of 4

We’re half-way through a 4-part series about my experience as a travel blogger in the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Contest. If you’d like to read my first post, click here. And for my second post, click here.  Today’s post is all about the finalist period.

The Voting and Assignment Periods for Finalists

From December 1st, 2009 until January 8th, 2009 Internet Users from around the world could vote for 1 team out of the 5 finalists (Phuket, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Koh Samui and Bangkok). Voters could vote once every 24 hours. The team with the most votes would receive the grand prize, $10,000.

Ultimate Thailand Explorers: What I Learned Part 2 of 4

Today’s post is Part 2 of a 4-part series. If you’d like to read yesterday’s post about the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Application Period, click here. Today we’ll talk about the Semi-Finalists Voting Period.

The Semi-Finalists Voting Period

In mid-October, 2009 the Tourism Authority of Thailand selected 5 teams from each of 5 cities (Pattaya, Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai) to be voted on by Internet users worldwide. We were selected as 1 of these 25 teams from over 356 applicants in 59 countries. Internet users had roughly 3 weeks to vote on who they wanted to send to Thailand. They could vote for 1 team, from each city every 24 hours.

Ultimate Thailand Explorers: What I Learned Part 1 of 4

It’s taken a bit longer for me to get back into the blogging routine, I’m slowly working up to where I was, but a well-deserved break was needed and the reality of life has taken it’s toll on my time. My poor car is slowly dying and I’ll be searching for a new one as soon as this post is published.
