Hey Adventurers,
By intention, my Epic Trip to Australia last year, coincided with the World-Famous Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. Attending this massive festival has been on my adventure list for years. YEARS! It’s the largest event in Australia. That’s right, the largest event be it art, sports, culture, music or anything else on the whole continent.
It’s certainly the largest GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender) event on the planet and I would say, it rivals many worldwide festivals regardless of their focus. It contributes over $30 million to the State of New South Wales, drawing 1/2 million people to the City of Sydney for the parade alone!
It’s sheer size, combined with the jubilant atmosphere, colorful costumes and unification of people make it an easy inclusion for any bucket list – no matter how you identify.
Here’s an overview of the month-long festival from the event organizers
