I’ve always wanted to fly in a helicopter. It’s been on my adventure list for a long time. But to shell out $130 for 15-minutes of airtime… well it better be for something spectacular. Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, has dozens of lookout points that offer breathtaking views. But to truly complete your experience, you need to see it from above.

Riding on long flights, even when you’re stretched in the business class seats can still be uncomfortable. Those reclining seats aren’t designed for sleeping…well they are, but they aren’t as comfortable as a bed.
Whenever I arrive at an airport, I make it a point to walk from one terminal to another – instead of taking the tram. Arriving in Detroit on one trip, I was in for a bit of a surprise. The walk was inhumanely long. Okay, it wasn’t that long, but when you have to drag luggage and make it there on-time, it might have been wiser to have taken the tram.

Ever since I timed how long it took to fly from Orlando to Africa, I’ve become obsessed with timing all my international flights. So when I left my house to fly from Orlando to Singapore, the clock started as soon as I pulled out of the garage door of my house to leave for the airport.

Singapore is the World’s Longest Flight
Singapore is located in South East Asia and holds the current record for the longest, non-stop flight. The Newark to Singapore route clocks in at 18 hours 50 minutes. Can you imagine being in a plane for that long? Los Angeles to Singapore comes in at number 2 according to Wikipedia which keeps a list of non-stop flights records. I was flying Orlando to Chicago, Chicago to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Singapore.

I’m typing today’s post at the Hong Kong Airport, awaiting my flight to Singapore. I had such an incredible trip over here I had to write about it first thing – even though I’m a bit jet lagged.

How to visit an Airplane Cockpit
In order to become an Airline Captain you need to sit in the Captain’s Chair. So the real question is, how can you sit in the Captain’s Chair?
“Would you like to visit the cockpit,” Captain Mike asked.
I nearly wet myself.

Today’s post is a quickie. It went live while we were still flying to Thailand via New York. Our thought was to write something everyday to keep our site fresh.
I’ll see you out there…!

Talk to anyone who travels frequently and chances are, they’ll be able to weave a good story or two; myself included. Such was the case last week when I arrived into Providence Airport on Southwest Airlines. It was around 11:15 P.M. and I knew my parents were looking forward to seeing me. So I thought I’d have a bit of fun with them. While I was making the 30-minute drive from the airport to their house I gave them a phone call…

Victoria Falls as seen from the airplane
Which Country to Fly Into?
If you’re considering making a trip to Victoria Falls, one of the first questions you’ll need to ask yourself is, “Which side of the falls should I visit? Zambia or Zimbabwe?” Your decision will naturally impact which airport you fly into: Livingstone, Zambia or Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
I chose to fly into Zambia. The recent instability in Zimbabwe’s political and economic fronts was enough for me to avoid spending my nights there. But no worries, taking a day-trip into the neighboring country to see the falls from the other side is easy, albeit a bit pricey.

That Safety Information Card for Kulula.com almost makes it look like an emergency would be fun!
Most airlines treat their safety spiel as fulfilling a necessary piece of legal obligations. Others recognize the potential to incorporate this important information as an extension of their brand. Air New Zealand has a video with NAKED Flight Attendants while Delta Airlines has this hypnotizingly attractive flight attendant delivering the same message.
On a recent flight on the low cost South African Airline Kulula.com I was thoroughly impressed with their Safety Information Card. I had to take a few photos to share with you.

Hey Adventurers,
I’ve arrived safely in South Africa and am getting comfortable at the City Lodge Fourways. I’ll be here for the next 4 days and then I’m off to my next mystery destination. Want to know where it is? I couldn’t tell you, I’m not sure myself.
The flight from Atlanta to Johannesburg was about 14 hours. It’s a long flight, no doubt. Fortunately, as many of you know, work pays for business class travel. Here’s a breakdown of what I did…
