I travel for business, many of you know that. And as such, I have to wear nice clothes and sometimes don’t always have the chance to see and do everything in the city I’m visiting. That’s why it’s so important to plan ahead and select the 1 thing to do. As long as I do that, I can leave happy. Everything else is a bonus.

But on my trip to Durban, crossing “the one thing” off my list wasn’t as easy as I hoped. I wanted to swim in the Indian Ocean. There literally was no time in my agenda to get to the ocean except for 30 minutes before I was supposed to work. So with dress pants and brand-new dress shoes, I hiked across the beach and tried to put my hand in the Indian Ocean. That will have to do. Take a look in this YouTube video.

It’s so easy for us to make excuses on why we shouldn’t do something. And the list here was compelling enough to say no:

Don’t want to get sand in my shoes

Don’t want to get dirty

There’s no time

No towel to dry off my hand

What if the waves are too strong and I get wet

But this was my only chance. So I found a way to make it happen.

And you should too.

Whatever it is you want to do, stop making excuses and just do it. Tomorrow is never a guarantee. I have scuff marks, sand in my dress shoes and a story to prove it.

Once you’ve done it, share your adventure by commenting.

One of my ongoing sponsors here at adventureswithben.com is The City Scramble. Picture yourself running around one of Florida’s top cities on a quest to solve puzzles, complete challenges and if you win…come home with 500 bucks for your team.

The City Scramble was in Orlando back in March and coming soon, they’ll be in Daytona Beach, not a long drive for any of you readers here in Central Florida (or along the East Coast for that matter)!

Start Planning Your Adventure

So if you’re looking to have an adventure next weekend, Saturday, June 19th, why not grab a friend and head to the beach! In fact, if you want to make a weekend out of it, The City Scramble has found a killer deal at the Daytona Inn Beach Resort for teams wishing to spend the weekend – starting at just $59/night. And for you late sleepers, check-in for the scramble is at the Daytona Inn Beach Resort starting at 8:30am. So you can roll outta bed, head downstairs and start your race. To book your hotel reservation call 386-252-3626 and tell them you’re with The City Scramble.

And then you’re off…

From there, teams will take off on a 5 mile adventure around town. Included on your journey are a few local hangouts, challenges that haven’t been done before and the beach of course!! The first team back will win $500 cash and team #2 will win 2 nights free at the Daytona Inn Beach Resort. And if you place in the top 3, you’ll go home with race medals and entry into a second Scramble of your choice. Ft. Lauderdale is up next on July 19th! Entry is $45 per person, however, the code “pete15″ will get racers $15 off the registration fee in Daytona until Saturday June 19th!

It’s not too early to start planning next weekend. Click the image at the top of the page to sign up for The City Scramble, Daytona on June 19th. A portion of the proceeds also will go to charity. A win-win for everyone!

I’ll see you out there!
