Where Do Hot Air Balloons Land?

Where Do Hot Air Balloons Land?

One of my favorite travel moments was traveling by hot air balloon in Thailand at the Pattaya International Balloon Festival. I always wondered where hot air balloons land.

It turns out, wherever there is space! Upon landing in a farmer’s field, these local children ran over to help us roll up the balloon. It was a cool moment – dropping from the sky, and having the kids greet us. We didn’t understand each other, but knew exactly what each other was thinking.

Have you ever been in a hot air balloon? What was it like? Share by commenting.

But Wait, There’s More!

From the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Pattaya Blog [originally published 10 January 2010].

This is the final post in the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Archive collection. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to occasionally repost them to preserve them in their original format as the official, contest page has been taken down.

Hey Explorers,

You thought we were done didn’t you? Well there’s always a few more tricks up our sleeves! In the last 26 posts we covered virtually every place we went to in Pattaya. But that’s not all. There’s always something else for you to see and do on a return visit. It’s no wonder so many visitors are repeat visitors. Here’s what else we saw, but just didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy…

Rimpa Lapin

Rimpa Lapin was one of the restaurants we dined in while in Pattaya, Thailand. It has one of the best views at night. Check it out.

 Rimpa Lapin

Hey Explorers,

Have you ever been someplace that you want to keep to yourself because you don’t want others to know about it and spoil it?That’s how we feel about Rimpa Lapin. We don’t want you to go there, not because it’s a bad place, but because we want it all to ourselves. However, today’s your lucky day for 2 reasons: 1) we won’t be in Pattaya again until we can save our pennies for a plane ticket, and 2) they’re a sponsor of the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition so it we’re kinda obligated to talk about them.

Driving on the Left!

From the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Pattaya Blog [originally published 6 January 2010].

Ever what what it is like driving on the left-hand side of the road? I took a trip on the highways of Thailand from Bangkok to Pattaya and hilarity ensues.

Enjoy your weekend. For those of us in Florida, warmer beach weather is just around the corner.

Hey Explorers,

We’re going to take a quick break from our itinerary posts and share with you a tense, but funny moment we had on our trip: navigating the roadways.

Nighttime Entertainment Part 2: The Avenue & Kum Punn Pub

It’s the weekend…celebrate!

Hey Explorers,

Today’s post about is a continuation from a post we wrote a few days ago about nighttime in Pattaya – Two for the Price of One!!!

Nighttime Entertainment Part 2: The Avenue & Kum Punn Pub

The Avenue Shopping Center

With all the places we had been visiting, the opportunity to shop for gifts for friends and family was quickly fading away…until we landed at The Avenue Shopping Center. Conveniently located next door to the Dusit D2, our hotel, we bought nearly everything we needed at this outdoor market.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo

From the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Pattaya Blog [originally published 5 January 2010]

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo was a novel approach to a zoo. Guests can drive their car from exhibit area to exhibit area, travel by tram, or rent a golf cart. We chose the golf cart option and that’s where the antics began. Who wouldn’t want to parody Jurassic Park?

Happy New Year. See you in 2011!

It’s only appropriate so close to Christmas that today’s post includes a photo that served as our Christmas Card for 2009. You’ll see it at the bottom.

If you want to escape the beach and do something different during the day in Pattaya, today’s post is just for you.

Merry Christmas to all of you celebrating!
