In yesterday’s post, I shared with you all the fun I had at the 2010 Plant City, Florida Strawberry Festival. You were probably wondering, did I eat any strawberries at the strawberry festival? The answer is, absolutely.

Strawberry Shortcake is the plate-du-jour. Most locations serve it pre-made with your choice of biscuit or cake (have the cake). But the most popular spot (and the place I missed), was the create-your-own strawberry shortcake. For the suggested donation of $3.50, it’s a great festival treat. The lines are long so bring your patience.

This is a wonderful time of year in Central Florida. The weather starts to warm up, the days get longer and the strawberries are in season.

Just an hour’s drive from Orlando is the town of Plant City, Florida. What you may not know, is Plant City is home to strawberries. While oranges are most often associated with the Sunshine State (in fact I’ve written about them before here), strawberries are another huge crop in the Central Florida Corridor.

16 Days Left, Join Ben & Brian at an Orlando Thai Restaurant

Sa wat dee krap Explorers,

Brian and I recently went to a local Thai restaurant here in Orlando, Sea Thai to celebrate our entry into the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition. Brian has had Thai food before, but this was my first Thai, culinary experience – and while I didn’t know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. Sea Thai is about a 10 minute drive from our house. From the shopping plaza outside you wouldn’t be able to tell what a gem it is inside.

I Was All Fired Up in Winter Park

I’m not an artist. I can’t draw, I can’t paint and I can’t sculpt. But the good news is you don’t have to have any artistic ability to have a great time at All Fired Up in Winter Park, Florida. All Fired Up is a local craft store where you can paint your own pottery. Are you ready to learn how to do it?

Step 1: Select your piece

There are probably over a hundred different items you can choose from for every budget: plates, mugs, tiles, bowls, figurines, holiday decorations, piggy banks and more. The plate that I selected was only $12.
