I found this sign in South Africa in the same place where tampons weren’t allowed. Translated literally, this sign reads in Afrikaans, “Smoking Smokers Have Your Lungs Cooked”. We all know that literal translations never work. Our cultures use so many idiomatic expression that you just can’t translate like that.
Which is why, I think the sign reads, “Skeletons are not allowed to smoke”.
Has South Africa taken the no-smoking thing too far? Do you think skeletons should be allowed to smoke? Why or why not? Share by commenting.

I was dining at the Steak ‘n Shake in Lake Buena Vista, FL last Friday and noticed this sign on the way out.
At first glance, I didn’t know what it was. It took me a moment. I can hear the discussion right now…
Officer: “Can you give me a description of the robber?”
Employee: “Well, I’m not so sure. It all happened so fast. He’s as tall as a Chocolate Milk Shake. Will that help?”
Officer: “With the straw bent or unbent?”
Employee: “Unbent”
Officer: “Excellent. Rest assured, we’ll catch ‘em”

Inspired by yesterday’s sign spotting post, I thought I’d publish another one today from South Africa.
It’s not everyday you see warning signs of Buffalo, Elephant, Crocodile and Hippo!

Where did I see it? Find out tomorrow.
And if you love sign spotting too, join the Facebook Group People Who Love Sign Spotting When Traveling and post your own photos!
I’ll see you out there…!

Today’s post is a quickie. I was in South Africa and walked past this sign. I had to do a double-take. It looked like No Tampons Were Allowed…

See?
After some scrutiny, it was clear this was a “No Smoking Sign”.
I think the sign was installed upside-down since smoke rises and doesn’t fall.
It made me laugh and so I wanted to share it with you.
But I’m curious…If this was a No Tampons Allowed Sign, where might you find it? Tasteful comments allowed (Yeah, I know, how tasteful can you be when talking about tampons, but you get the point).

Riding on long flights, even when you’re stretched in the business class seats can still be uncomfortable. Those reclining seats aren’t designed for sleeping…well they are, but they aren’t as comfortable as a bed.
Whenever I arrive at an airport, I make it a point to walk from one terminal to another – instead of taking the tram. Arriving in Detroit on one trip, I was in for a bit of a surprise. The walk was inhumanely long. Okay, it wasn’t that long, but when you have to drag luggage and make it there on-time, it might have been wiser to have taken the tram.

In addition to timing the time it takes to travel overseas, another one of my travel traditions is to eat a Big Mac in “foreign” countries (like South Africa). While my research thus far has found that no matter the country, the Big Mac tastes the same as in the U.S. 100% of the time, I always want to sample it anyway – just in case. Well in Singapore, I walked by McDonald’s and saw something that took my breath away…the MEGA MAC
What makes the Mega Mac Different from a Big Mac? Well, I’ll rewrite the McDonald’s Big Mac Jingle to tell you…

My “to do” list:
- Work a full-time job 40-50 hours/week
- Travel all the time
- Write 5 blog posts/ week
- Set-up an online retail store
- Create a 60-minute speech
- Manage a household
- Seek out non-stop adventures
“Stop and smell the roses.”
That’s what mom said to me yesterday. I’ve developed a bit of a sore throat and cold from burning the candles at both ends. My “to do” list, keeps me busy. Sometimes too busy.
Yes, seeking out adventures is fun and exciting, but it can also take it’s toll on you and your body. That’s where I’m at right now.

Calling in sick from work in Orlando? I’d suggest you spend the day in Mount Dora.
It started with an idea. If you were to call in sick this summer, where in Central Florida would you go? We asked for your input, you voted on your favorite, and that’s where we went: Mount Dora.
Together with Bess Auer from Orlando Travel & Event site, Central Florida Top 5, we planned to spend the day in Mount Dora, to check out how to make the best of your sick day. And while Bess called me that morning to say she had some surprise personal business to attend to, Brian and I continued on our adventure. We’ll connect with Bess again in the future.

Talk to anyone who travels frequently and chances are, they’ll be able to weave a good story or two; myself included. Such was the case last week when I arrived into Providence Airport on Southwest Airlines. It was around 11:15 P.M. and I knew my parents were looking forward to seeing me. So I thought I’d have a bit of fun with them. While I was making the 30-minute drive from the airport to their house I gave them a phone call…
