What is the Magic Castle?
One of my childhood dreams came true during my trip to California last month. I had the opportunity to visit the World Famous, Hollywood Magic Castle. The Magic Castle is a private club to the Academy of Magical Arts – an organization that promotes the Art of Magic.
The castle itself is an old home that was built in 1909. Then, in 1961, Milt Larson purchased the home and transformed it into the instantly recognizable Hollywood Landmark. Inside the building you’ll find countless rooms with treasures from the history of magic, a complete dining room, magical performances and surprises. The fact that all this takes place in an old, fancy-looking mansion makes it even better.

I caught these Gargoyles of Notre Dame during a night walk around the church. They’re fantastic!

Without a doubt, The Bubble Room ranks as the #1 kitschy restaurant I’ve ever discovered anywhere IN THE WORLD! That’s a pretty strong statement, I know, but after reading today’s post I think you’ll agree with me. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you spot the building that looks like every color of paint was just poured over it. Let the fun begin!

The Bubble Room does not take reservations, so arrive in advance. Even in the low season when I visited, waits were upwards to an hour or so. Arrive for an early dinner (5:00ish and you’ll walk right in). Plus, it’s easy to find parking in the lot.

Is there really a North Pole?
Yep.
It’s in North Pole, Alaska.
Christmas is only one month away, so you better start sending your letters to Santa soon!

We travel so often to learn about other cultures. But travel to learn about your own… and be proud of where you come from.

Hey Adventurers,
Everyone knows the “Las Vegas Welcome Sign“. It’s the famous sign located at the end of the strip. It seems like everyone that visits Vegas has to take their photo with this landmark. And every photo looks the same.

So it got me wondering… what’s on the other side of the sign. No one ever takes a picture of that! So I thought I’d show you.

How nice of Vegas to provide our departure with a gentle safety reminder! It’s unfortunate that no one ever takes a photo of this side of the sign. So I did and I’m sharing it with you.

It’s really hot in Orlando right now, so I thought I would cool things down with a trip down memory lane to Sydney. Cool things down in Sydney? Really?
Absolutely! I was reviewing some photos on my computer over the weekend and came across a trip I took to Sydney, Nova Scotia in Canada. Yes, there are at least two Sydney’s in the world and they are very different from each other. On this particular trip, it was below freezing outside.

I was returning home from Vancouver via the U.S. Border Crossing in Washington State and encountered this sign. Iconic American landmarks welcomed our return home:
- The U.S. Flag
- The Statue of Liberty
- The U.S. Capitol Building
- Mount Rushmore
- The Golden Gate Bridge
- The Seattle Space Needle
While waiting for the endless queue to advance, I contemplated this sign for a bit. I suppose it’s because I do so much international travel, I don’t ever think about U.S. Travel. France has the Eiffel Tower, Australia the Opera House and Uluru, Egypt the Pyramids and the list goes on and on. But what represents America?

I’ve always wanted to fly in a helicopter. It’s been on my adventure list for a long time. But to shell out $130 for 15-minutes of airtime… well it better be for something spectacular. Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, has dozens of lookout points that offer breathtaking views. But to truly complete your experience, you need to see it from above.
