What is VAT?
VAT is short for Value Added Tax. It’s a tax that’s added onto goods in other countries – in it’s simplest explanation. The United States doesn’t charge VAT, but lots of other countries around the world do? Why does this matter?
Because International Travelers can receive a refund on the VAT they pay when they depart the country. That’s money in your pocket! I like to think of it as a parting gift, a “Thank You for Visiting!”

How Expensive is Australia?
If there was any black cloud that was hanging over my Epic Trip To Australia, it was the cost of the country. Australia is expensive. F@#%!n’ expensive. I was unprepared for how much I would have to pay for even the smallest of items: Bottled Water, Ice Cream Cones, Hamburgers, even fruit was more than I could imagine.
I guess I’m spoiled. Having traveled to Africa and Asia, I’ve become accustomed to bartering at markets, finding cheap food and having a currency that works in your favor. None of that works in Australia. Take a look:

Game Night (part 4 of a 5-part series) is one of my favorite Money Saving Tips. For a one-time, small investment up front, you’ll have endless weekends of free fun in-between trips.
In no particular order, here are a few of my favorite board games. You can find them at your local toy or book store. I provided you with the Amazon.com listing. You can also stop by the house and play with me if you’re ever in town!

How much can you spend each week on groceries? What about your cell phone bill? And how much can you afford to put onto your credit card each weekend? If you can’t answer those questions quickly, then you probably haven’t created a household budget.
And budgeting your money is a critical, first step in traveling more (part 3 in a 5-part series about travel and money)
It’s surprising how many people I know don’t know what their spending limits are! Corporations have vast teams that manage the money – but at home, we neglect this critical tool. Which is why…

I’m often asked, “how is it that I can travel so often?” The simple answer is, I budget for it. I save for it. I don’t waste money. I spend it thoughtfully. In today’s post (part 2 of a 5-part series), I’m sharing 9 habits I practice dutifully to help you save money to travel more:
1. Create a Household Budget
Before you store that tray table and put your seat back into it’s full, upright, and locked position, you need to have enough money to get that plane ticket in the first place. Find out more on how to create a household budget here. You can’t travel if you don’t know how much you need to save.

Alright Adventurers,
It’s time to talk money. All this week, I’ll be writing a series about budgeting it, saving it and spending it…all in the name of travel. This time of year is the perfect time of year to think about your financial future. If you want to travel often, you need money. It’s that simple (unless you win a travel competition). Even the travelers who do these round-the-world trips save a handsome sum of money before stretching it thin when they travel abroad.
If reaching that far-flung, exotic port-of-call is one of your New Year’s Travel Resolutions this year, be sure to visit everyday.

Happy Monday Adventurers!
For all you American Readers, welcome back from the Thanksgiving Holiday. For everyone, I have a question for you…
What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?
I know that’s not a question you’re used to hearing in November. Probably like many of you, I did some traveling this holiday break and went to Ft. Lauderdale to attend a Softball Tournament. I’m a spectator, not a player. With 15 hours at the ball field with my feet against the fence, I had some downtime to think about my New Year’s Resolution for this travel blog.

Last week my online travel store with fun and unique travel products had it’s official grand opening. And in it, I am currently selling two products: the tugo cup holder and MirrorSleeves. In the 1st of a 2-part series, I thought I would share some inspiration into these accessories for your car.
What Are MirrorSleeves?

First things first, MirrorSleeves are car mirror covers for your side-view mirrors on your automobile. They are also sometimes called Mirror Socks, Mirror Sleeves and Car Mirror Socks.
Whatever you call them, they are a unique and creative way to personalize your car.
