7 Tips for Taking Kids to a Music Festival

7 Tips for Taking Kids to a Music Festival

I used to be a frequent music-festival attendee. Once I got married and had kids the festivals faded from my life. Recently my four-year-old son started taking guitar lessons and I thought he might be ready to appreciate a music festival.

My willing husband, my enthusiastic four-year-old and I descended upon the Winnipeg Folk Festival in early July. We had a great time and I learned a lot about how to enjoy a music festival with kids in tow. Here are my tips for making your own kid-inclusive music festival experience a great one for everyone.

New Where the Hell is Matt Video

Perhaps one of the best known travel personalities is Where the Hell is Matt – the guy that dances all around the world. I wrote about him years ago as one of my travel inspirations.

Well, he’s created a new video, four years since his last one. It’s well worth your time to watch for some travel fun.

Is the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Post-Parade Party Worth It?

Is the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Post Parade Party Worth It?

While the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is the highlight of the month-long festival, the after party is generally what everyone talks about. It is one of the largest dance parties imaginable. The event starts at 10 P.M. and lasts until 8:00 the following morning. That’s ten hours of non-stop dance! 15,000 people make their way to the party every year as a final farewell until next year’s celebration. But with ticket prices over $130 per person, is it worth it?

The Big Fiddle in Sydney is Indeed… a Big Fiddle

The Big Fiddle in Sydney is Indeed... a Big Fiddle

It’s really hot in Orlando right now, so I thought I would cool things down with a trip down memory lane to Sydney. Cool things down in Sydney? Really?

Absolutely! I was reviewing some photos on my computer over the weekend and came across a trip I took to Sydney, Nova Scotia in Canada. You can get there by flying Air Canada. Yes, there are at least two Sydney’s in the world and they are very different from each other. On this particular trip, it was below freezing outside.

Eating at Moyo in South Africa

Eating at Moyo in South Africa

Hey Adventurers,

There’s nothing wrong with being a tourist and doing the touristy attractions. My primary purpose in traveling is to have fun, and there are some awesome, fun things around the world that are on the beaten path. Today’s adventure takes you to one such place near Cape Town, South Africa: Moyo.

Moyo is a restaurant chain located throughout South Africa. It combines traditional, African cuisine with African entertainment. After wine tasting at Spier, we decided to dine at Moyo’s location in Stellenbosch. Take a look in this YouTube video.

The Orlando Lady Gaga Concert: Worth It from the Last Row?

The Orlando Lady Gaga Concert: Worth It from the Last Row?

It’s been a while since attending my last concert, Britney Spears’s Circus, so I was quite thrilled to score some tickets to the Lady Gaga Monster Ball 2011 Tour when it came to the new Amway Center in Orlando. Now when I say “score some tickets”, what I really mean is “pay a friend $100 for a ticket because someone else bailed on him.” One hundred dollars is a lot of money for this adventurer – especially when I discovered that my seat was in the VERY LAST ROW of the Amway Center. That’s right, the only thing behind me was a concrete wall. You can’t get any further back than that. Was the concert worth it? Absolutely. Here’s 7 Tips for Making the Most Out of a Lady Gaga Concert from the Nosebleed Section…

5 Reasons Why Im Looking Forward to Riptide 2011

Summer is only a few short months away but I’m already planning my social calendar. And in Orlando, the unofficial start of summer is Gay Days. Gay Days is celebrated the first weekend in June all around Orlando and it’s filled with special events, theme park get-togethers and dance parties. But perhaps one of the most highly anticipated and popular parties is Riptide.

Riptide is an after-hours, private party that takes place at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. And if there’s only one event you should attend over Gay Days Weekend, this is the one*. Here’s 5 reasons why I’m excited to attend…

5 Reasons Why the Orlando Flash Mob was Awesome

Hey Adventurers,

I can add “Participating in a Flash Mob” to my adventure list – and may I add, it should be included on all of yours. After this weekend’s Flash Mob in Orlando (watch the video here) I’ll give you 5 reasons why…

1. Flash Mobs Bring Happiness to Others

5 Reasons Why the Orlando Flash Mob was Awesome

There was an awful lot of debating I had between friends on whether or not this was a “true” flash mob. Several believed that it wasn’t because it was to rehearsed and too obvious with hundreds of spectators lined up waiting to see something happen. But I disagree for several reasons.

Hey Adventurers,

After much practice and preparation, the Orlando Flash Mob went off without a hitch today at the Mall at Millenia here in Orlando, Florida. The crowd of supporters and unsuspecting spectators was huge. I was impressed. Here’s my YouTube video with the complete dance. You can find me in the middle (towards the back), wearing the blue/green striped shirt.
