That’s really all I could say at the end of the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon last week. Running 13.1 miles takes a lot out of you. With just over a week to recouperate, I’m ready to share everything I discovered about running, marathons, myself and more.
A Mile-by-Mile Half Marathon Video
I decided to take a camera with me and film a mile-by-mile editorial of my race progress. You can view by clicking on the YouTube video link below, but be warned… it’s a horrible video. Really bad. It’ dark, shaky, long and features me topless. I’m sure only race fanatics and Disney fans would have the patience to watch the whole thing.
We all lead busy schedules. From jetting off to one destination after another, blogging, working and running marathons (okay, half-marathons), I’m always on the go. In fact, this post, marks the 500th, published story on adventureswithben.com. Wow! So in short, I’m due to relax.
The team at Bahama Breeze invited some of us Orlando Bloggers to spend an evening sampling their new “Small Plates” and “Skinny Cocktails” Menu. Sharing the evening with CentralFloridaTop5, daFoodie, Swimmer Joe and Professor Josh over delicious food (and even more delicious drinks) was just what the doctor ordered.
If you’re interested in following my progress during the race, you can sign-up here. As I pass certain milestones, you’ll receive texts, tweets or facebook comments (your choice in which how you receive them). Search my name “Ben Reed”. Note, the race begins in the evening.
Today’s post is an announcement about a great event next month in Orlando. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about long-term travel, quitting your job and exploring the world or just taking a break in-between careers, this is the event to attend! I’ll be speaking about social media abroad, along with a stellar line-up of Central Florida Travel Bloggers. For additional details, you can see the official announcement below.

Earlier this summer I made a trip to Piglet’s Pantry in Mount Dora and sampled their dog food. All their dog food is made from human-grade ingredients. So while it may make you shiver thinking about dining on it, there truly is nothing in there that humans don’t eat.
So what did it taste like? Take a look in this YouTube Video:
Yummy… er kinda.

I had a fantastic time recently at the Silver Moon Drive In Theater in Lakeland, Florida. I talked about the experience on my podcast, Florida Travel Cocktail (which you can listen to here). So in today’s post, I’d like to share some tips about how to make your visit to a drive in theater totally awesome!
I’m embarking on something I never thought I would – I’m running a half marathon. You should know I don’t run. But at the encouragement of a friend, I’m going to try it. Running a marathon is on my adventure list, so starting with a half is a good place to begin.
I’ll be participating in the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Saturday, October 1st, 2011. With only three months left to train, there’s much to be done. I’ll be documenting my progress along the way in this blog. And I’ll let you know now, you’re encouragement is highly needed. I can currently run 2 miles comfortably – 11 more to go!
TheDailyCity.com, a local Orlando blog is known for hosting Food Truck Bazaars (click the link for the schedule). All summer long TheDailyCity.com will be hosting a series of bazaars (including this weekend at the Fashion Square Mall). If you’re planning on going, here are 5 tips to make your visit a delicious one.
1. Get There Early
Seriously, it’s not cool to arrive late. Lines will get long quickly. In fact, get there before the event begins and be the first in line. You’ll thank me later. You’re welcome.
Florida is probably best known for it’s beaches, theme parks and natural wetlands. It is not known for it’s stunning mountains and cliffs – which is why I was quite confused when fellow travel blogger and friend RoriTravel (you can read her perspective on the day here) invited me to Quest Air Hang Gliding* to go hang gliding in Central Florida. Wh-wh-what? Here are 6 surprises I discovered as you think about having your own hang gliding adventure.
It’s Earth Day today and we’re celebrating with something green and local. The Orlando Green Travel App is a new app available for download on itunes for your iphone or ipad. It retails for $2.99 but for one lucky reader, you can download a free copy. Details are at the end of the post. Here’s what you can look forward to in the app…
Comprehensively Green
I’ve lived in Orlando for nearly six years and I was quite curious what is green in travel and tourism around here. What surprises would this app have in store? Kim Button, Blogger at Central Florida Green Guide and author of the app says it best in the app’s intro,
