Every once in a rare while I stray away from the travel talk and give a business update. It helps me to organize my thoughts… so thank you in advance for this opportunity. And if you must have a travel story to read, why not catch up on my 33 Must-Read Adventures?
At the beginning of the year I shared my New Year’s Resolutions for 2011. Today, I’d like to take a moment and reflect on the outcome of them all.

Hey Adventurers,
I’m going to start a new, somewhat randomly scheduled series called “Random Travel Stories You’ll Enjoy”. I spend a lot of time on StumbleUpon, scouring the web for interesting stories in travel and technology. It’s a great tool to discover new websites, trends, and kill some time. If you stumble, why not follow me too?
Today’s post features the Lake Eola Fountain here in Orlando after the Orlando Pride Fireworks over the weekend.

I’m taking another digital vacation until after Labor Day, so there won’t be any new posts for awhile. During my publishing pause I’ve provided you with some fun links from various travel blogs to enjoy in my absence.

There’s a quite a bit of chatter lately amongst the Travel Blog-o-sphere to share “My Seven Links” – posts that answer 7, separate topics. It’s sponsored by TripBase and I was nominated by my fellow friend and colleague Erin De Santiago from Our Tasty Travels.

June 28, 2010 adventureswithben.com celebrated one year of travel blogging, an accomplishment in and of itself. Now, a whole year later this little website has grown by leaps and bounds; beyond my wildest imagination. In keeping with tradition, I’d like to share my favorite links, tops awards, stats and new this year – share an historical timeline of the evolution of this blog.

Why Winning a Bowling Tournament is Like Blogging
Last year you may remember my post on “How to Get Your Name on a Plaque at a Bowling Alley“. Well… on Saturday night, my bowling league held it’s end of the year awards ceremony and I am excited to share that for the 2nd year in a row, I have won the tournament of 128 bowlers.
What was the secret?
I make no claims to be an expert bowler, my average is a steady 142. But playing regularly, remaining focused on the goal, getting lucky and enjoying the ride all contributed to preserving my name and reputation for posterity – in the foyer of a bowling alley!

Hey Adventurers,
You may have noticed things have been quiet here at adventureswithben.com. I’m in the early stages of taking a digital vacation. In fact, for the next three weeks I’ll be taking a break from blogging, tweeting, facebooking and other things social media. Gasp! I’ll return in March.
Three weeks is a long time to separate oneself from the internet, and I’m not sure how easy it will be. But like all things, a break is healthy. From time to time, we could all use a vacation from the endless chatter of social media and focus on what’s important in our lives – our friends and family. I’m taking a break from this blog for the same reasons we all take a vacation from our full time jobs. To have fun!

Hey Adventurers,
One of the frustrations I had with living in Orlando was the perceived lack of things to do (aside from a plethora of theme parks). It turns out, I wasn’t looking in the right places – and now my perspective has changed. Orlando is a vibrant community with talented people doing and sharing awesome stuff. IzonOrlando.com is one of those such people.
