We Did It! You Did it!

Well everyone, there’s nothing else left to say at this point, but we did it! You made it happen! Can you believe it? We worked our little butts off, but we did it! Thank you to all of you who voted and promoted. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we could end up in Thailand. But then as the videos rolled in at the official Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition site, I thought, we might have a chance. And then when we were listed as one of the top 25, it became even more possible. Anything can happen if you work hard enough and believe strong enough. You too can live your dreams.

It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint: 2 Days Left

Hey Explorers,

Only 2 more days to vote. Can you believe it? We certainly can’t. This is quite a roller coaster ride. We came out the gate strong, then fell behind into 2nd place and slowly moved into 3rd place. It seems the voting gap was widening each day. But competition doesn’t discourage us, it motivates us.

Our strategy from the beginning has been to “out work ‘ em“. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. This morning Brian and I awoke to discover that we had moved into 2nd place. That’s a nice welcome home from Africa present, especially when you’re in bed by 8pm due to jet lag! There are still several days left, so anything can happen but we are optimistic that we’ll finish in a great place. But as you know, only if you vote!

On September 9th, shortly after Brian and I submitted our application video to the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition I wrote a post that shared our contest strategy - to “out work ‘em”. Now with only 10 Days left of voting, that strategy continues.

If you’ve been a longtime reader of this site, you may be aware that I’m currently in South Africa for 3 weeks on business. It’s been a busy schedule so far. I’ve been conducting focus groups and evaluating service at local tourist experiences. It sounds exciting, and no doubt it is, but sometimes it’s a bit of a downer when those you care about, aren’t able to experience these moments I’ve been having.

Sa wat dee krap Explorers,

Brian and I recently went to a local Thai restaurant here in Orlando, Sea Thai to celebrate our entry into the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition. Brian has had Thai food before, but this was my first Thai, culinary experience – and while I didn’t know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. Sea Thai is about a 10 minute drive from our house. From the shopping plaza outside you wouldn’t be able to tell what a gem it is inside.
