The City of Bangkok is known for it’s many sky bars – rooftop bars towering over the city. And if there’s one bar that you should visit on your trip to Thailand, it’s The Dome at Lebua – made famous from it’s appearance in a Bombay Sapphire ad.
Located on the 63rd floor of the State Tower, the Sky Bar is a classy establishment and one of Bangkok’s finest. There is a dress code to enter, though nothing too strict. No shorts, jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, etc.

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That person, known as the Scorpion Queen, is covered in Scorpions. I discovered her at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Thailand. One of the featured attractions, the Scorpion Queen just stands there all day long with scorpions on her body. I have no idea how they don’t sting her.

For a few bucks, you can pay to stand next to her and have your picture taken. I declined, in part because I was being cheap and was tired of paying for photo opportunities over and over again in Thailand (a common occurrence), but also because I don’t trust bugs. They can’t be trained and a scorpion sting would hurt, badly.

Hey Explorers,
You thought we were done didn’t you? Well there’s always a few more tricks up our sleeves! In the last 26 posts we covered virtually every place we went to in Pattaya. But that’s not all. There’s always something else for you to see and do on a return visit. It’s no wonder so many visitors are repeat visitors. Here’s what else we saw, but just didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy…

The Sanctuary of Truth was under construction when we took a visit, but it was still remarkable. I love the Thai architectural style on the roofs.

Rimpa Lapin was one of the restaurants we dined in while in Pattaya, Thailand. It has one of the best views at night. Check it out.

Hey Explorers,
Have you ever been someplace that you want to keep to yourself because you don’t want others to know about it and spoil it?That’s how we feel about Rimpa Lapin. We don’t want you to go there, not because it’s a bad place, but because we want it all to ourselves. However, today’s your lucky day for 2 reasons: 1) we won’t be in Pattaya again until we can save our pennies for a plane ticket, and 2) they’re a sponsor of the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition so it we’re kinda obligated to talk about them.

As part of our experience as Ultimate Thailand Explorers, Brian and I indulged on a Sabai Sabai made from Mekhong Whiskey. Take a look.

Hey Explorers,
We have a few more sponsor thank you’s to share with you before we wrap up our blog. After arriving back to Bangkok from Pattaya we celebrated with our sponsors at the Amari Watergate Hotel; Mekhong Whiskey. One of the bartenders from the Amari shared with us how to make a cocktail with Mekhong Whiskey called the “Sabai Sabai”. Who doesn’t love a good cocktail right?

Ever what what it is like driving on the left-hand side of the road? I took a trip on the highways of Thailand from Bangkok to Pattaya and hilarity ensues.
Enjoy your weekend. For those of us in Florida, warmer beach weather is just around the corner.

Hey Explorers,
We’re going to take a quick break from our itinerary posts and share with you a tense, but funny moment we had on our trip: navigating the roadways.

It’s the weekend…celebrate!

Hey Explorers,
Today’s post about is a continuation from a post we wrote a few days ago about nighttime in Pattaya – Two for the Price of One!!!

The Avenue Shopping Center
With all the places we had been visiting, the opportunity to shop for gifts for friends and family was quickly fading away…until we landed at The Avenue Shopping Center. Conveniently located next door to the Dusit D2, our hotel, we bought nearly everything we needed at this outdoor market.

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo was a novel approach to a zoo. Guests can drive their car from exhibit area to exhibit area, travel by tram, or rent a golf cart. We chose the golf cart option and that’s where the antics began. Who wouldn’t want to parody Jurassic Park?
Happy New Year. See you in 2011!
