A Trip to the Taronga Zoo: A Photo Essay

I love a good zoo, and the Taronga Zoo in Sydney provides the perfect opportunity to see Australia’s well-known wildlife if you didn’t have a chance to spot them in the wild (check out my tips for Koala Spotting along the Great Ocean Road). Today’s post is a photo essay from my day at the zoo. Enjoy!

The Taronga Zoo is just a short ferry ride from Sydney Harbor. Ferries run all day long, are reasonably priced and offer a great view of the harbor.

14 Fun DidYaKnow’s from a Visit to Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo as part of my monthly meet-up with the Central Florida Chapter of Travel Blog Exchange.com. Our host Jason Davis, Marketing Manager of the zoo, took us around and shared with us all sorts of fun facts, conservation messages and highlights from this gem of a zoo. Here’s what we discovered:

1. Dino Quest

Today’s post is especially for Central Floridians. If you don’t live in Florida or plan on visiting in the next month, why not read another ferocious animal post from the past: Attacked by a Lion?

Jurassic Park is my favorite movie and book. The Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. is my favorite of the Smithsonian Museums, simply because of it’s fossilized skeletons. So I think it’s clear that, I love dinosaurs.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo

From the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Pattaya Blog [originally published 5 January 2010]

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo was a novel approach to a zoo. Guests can drive their car from exhibit area to exhibit area, travel by tram, or rent a golf cart. We chose the golf cart option and that’s where the antics began. Who wouldn’t want to parody Jurassic Park?

Happy New Year. See you in 2011!

Hey Explorers,

From the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Pattaya Blog [originally published 26 December 2009].

I’m taking another blogging break, and yes so soon after the last one. There’s still lots to do to plan for Australia, and I’m putting the finishing touches on the online store. It’s a lot of juggling. So while I spend the week working on other priorities, enjoy some more posts from my experience in the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Competition. Need details? You can learn more about the competition here.

Today’s posts was a fun one. Brian and I asked you to caption a photo of Brian sitting on a crocodile at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo.

A Day at the St. Louis Zoo

IMG 0002 300x225 A Day at the St. Louis ZooI’ve travelled to a lot of zoos. But By far, the St. Louis Zoo in St. Louis, MO is the best. After checking into my hotel, I walked to the zoo, about 1.4 miles. Along the way I stopped at the Turtle Playground in Forest Park. The playground has giant sculptures of turtles; Turtles you can climb, turtles you can crawl into and turtles everywhere for photo opportunities like this one.

There are lots of reasons why the St. Louis Zoo is so wonderful.

1. Variety of Animals

Meet Me in St. Louis

By far, the best zoo I have ever been to is the St. Louis Zoo. I took 2.5 GB worth of photos. After I have uploaded them into my computer at home I’ll post my favorites. Until then enjoy a few captured from my iPhone.

That’s write, today’s post comes to you from the bed in my hotel room on my WordPress app. Technology is truly amazing. I can be connected to the rest of the world with this little device.
