The Allure of Uluru Requires #Strength to Respect – #ExpediaFindYours
One of the events I was most looking forward to on my trip to Australia was climbing Uluru (sometimes known as Ayers Rock). I was eager to summit this mysterious plateau in the middle of the outback. But just before i arrived, I discovered that climbing Uluru is frowned upon by the local Aboriginal people. Instead, they suggest you hike around Uluru.
Sometimes when you travel, it takes #Strength to say no. You may not understand the why, but respecting local cultures and traditions is our responsibility as citizens of the world.
As it turns out, a hike around the base of Uluru offered a perspective unlike anything other. The red hues of the outcrop, combined with the a crisp, blue sky and green landscape was better than I could have imagined.
