Inside a Giant Baobab Tree

Let’s have some adventures, shall we? Today’s post comes to you from the wonderful country of South Africa.

We were driving from Phalaborwa (Pal-a-bore-a) to Polokwane (Pole-a-kwan-e) when our host suggested we stop and see the Giant Baobab Tree. It was a quick diversion on our trip through the City of Tzaneen (Za-neen). See for yourself in the YouTube video.

That’s a big tree huh?The current landowners have used it’s hollow inside as a bar – a novel concept. It was cozy in there, but not uncomfortable.  As you heard in the video, the baobab tree was over 6,000 years old. I can’t fathom something that old. Imagine the history that tree has. The things it has seen, the people who have called it home. I think that was what was most impressive. To stand next to something that was here long before I was, and will probably be here long after I will puts things in perspective doesn’t it?

Africa is nothing but history. It’s where mankind originated. It’s untamed. It’s majestic. It’s wild. It’s dangerous. It’s beautiful. And it will touch your soul. Africa is my favorite travel destination for all of those reasons and more. I’ll be sharing you more from the country all next week. Stay Tuned. Until then…
