Mardi Gras, as celebrated in New Orleans, takes place on February 16th. Attending the city during this most spirited of holidays is on my list of adventures. A friend of mine, who I’ve known for over 10 years now, lives in New Orleans. I had vacation time on hold this week – just in case we needed to return to Thailand for the Ultimate Thailand Explorers Media Event. Now that I’m staying Stateside, it would be a shame to let those days go to waste. So I found some cheap airfare, a cheap hotel and in the matter of 24 hours, found myself with a trip to Louisiana.
It has taken a decade for me to make this trip. Patience is a virtue. And while I’m missing the official holiday by a week, there’s plenty of festivities taking place. So tomorrow is my Friday and then I’m off for a long overdue weekend with friends, parades, beads and perhaps some mischief.
