2010 Plant City Strawberry Festival Events

This is a wonderful time of year in Central Florida. The weather starts to warm up, the days get longer and the strawberries are in season.

Just an hour’s drive from Orlando is the town of Plant City, Florida. What you may not know, is Plant City is home to strawberries. While oranges are most often associated with the Sunshine State (in fact I’ve written about them before here), strawberries are another huge crop in the Central Florida Corridor.

The coming of spring is marked by the Plant City, Florida Strawberry Festival. This year, the festival is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary. Ever since I’ve been living in Florida I’ve always wanted to go to the festival. In fact, it’s even on My Adventure List. Since my trip was so great, I’ve broken it down into two posts. Today I’ll talk about the different events at the festival and tomorrow we’ll cover all the food I found.

The festival was loads of fun. There’s enough to keep you busy for several hours. And if you take in the additional concerts and all the shows you could spend the whole day. I’d definitely return. The $10.00 admission charge was worth every penny for an day’s worth of entertainment.

There are probably dozens of festivals in your community. In fact, you’ve probably read about them in the paper over and over and over again. You may have even said to yourself, “I’d like to see that”, but for some reason, you never made it there. It’s still early in the year. What’s stopping you from going?
