AirTran Airways Makes Fun of Southwest Airlines

I’m not a great prankster. I couldn’t think of a funny joke to play on adventureswithben.com. So instead I’ll celebrate by sharing a video I thought was funny.

The Consumerist posted an article yesterday sharing a video by AirTran Airways. In it, they mock Southwest Airlines and the herding of cattle they call “boarding the aircraft”. I for one am not a fan of Southwest. I used to be, until I tasted the golden egg called “automatic upgrade to first class on Delta“. Now, I’ll admit it, I’m spoiled. I have no shame in saying I like flying first class.

I admire Southwest’s casual and relaxed approached to operating their airline and making announcements over the PA, but I’ve yet to see the benefit of unassigned seating. Sure they say they can turn the planes around faster, leave on time, yada yada yada, but as a passenger, I still need to arrive early, I still need to queue up, and I still have angst trying to login 24 hours ahead of the flight to get a good boarding number. Only to get bumped to A 33 because A 1- 32 clicked the mouse a millisecond faster.

Thank you AirTran for making this great video – but don’t get too excited, I’m not much of a fan of you either.

Delta, I miss you!!!
