All this week we’ve been talking about the Sydney Harbor Bridge. We’ve explored what’s on top of it, what’s underneath it, how to climb it on the cheap and how to properly photograph it. Today we’re ending with a walk across it – which is exactly how I ended my 3 week trip to Australia.

To walk across the bridge, you’ll need to head towards The Rocks, it’s Sydney’s oldest district. You’ll spot the stairs that will take you up to the vehicular traffic level – and the pedestrian walkway.
Fifteen minutes later, you’re on the other side. The bridge is perfect for a jog, a casual stroll or a romantic moment for couples. Australians love their bridge.
There’s a whole other side to Sydney to discover on the other side of the bridge. Sadly, there wasn’t enough time in the schedule to discover it all. But I was able to capture some great photographs of the city… and one of this scary clown face which marks the entrance to Luna Park, near the bridge.
There’s no cost to walk the bridge, and if you’re too tired to walk back, you can always take the subway back into town. Whether it’s to get some much needed exercise, see Sydney from a different perspective or simply need to kill a few hours in the city, walking the Sydney Harbor Bridge is a great option

That’s cool. I like walking the Williamsburg Bridge in NYC, although it takes 20-25 minutes because it’s so long.

I’ve never heard of the WIlliamsburg Bridge. It must be overshadowed by the Brooklyn Bridge.
I went to the official Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk in 2007!
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the bridge, the city closed it to traffic and set up displays and entertainment along the bridge. I was one of the 250,000-plus people who walked the bridge that day.
Did you know Paul Hogan (aka Crocodile Dundee) used to work as a Sydney Harbour Bridge painter before he made it big?

That sounds like so much fun. Do they do that every year? Painting the bridge take a long time. It was being repainted when I took a visit.
Walking bridges is great! I have walked the Brookly bridge and it is one of my favorite things to do in NYC. Living in the San Francisco area, I have walked and biked the Golden Gate. You just can’t beat those views
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to either. Would love to get out to SF sometime soon.

I did the Golden Gate Bridge a long time ago. There is a chance the Brooklyn Bridge may get a climbing experience similar to Sydney.
