What is Amarula? What does it taste like? Allow me to explain in this YouTube video.
Amarula is quite possibly the best liquor ever created. No joke. Every trip I take to South Africa I load up. And when I get home, I ration my Amarula. If I serve you this heavenly of cream liquors at my house, it means I like you enough not to “waste it”. Sure you can buy it in the U.S. at select stores, but it’s expensive.
As you heard in the video, if you want to sound sophisticated when you entertain friends, serve them Amarula. It’s still so rare in the United States that you’ll sound so exotic and worldly. Put on your best smoking jacket, relax in your easy chair and regale your friends with your tales from the bush.
It’s great on the rocks or blended with vanilla ice cream (called a Dom Pedro – not DON Pedro). Pour some on top of chocolate cake or mix it with creme de menthe or creme de cacao. You can also drink it straight from the bottle. All of which I’ve done and all of which are terrific.
Back in October I had a chance to visit the Amarula Lapa – the factory where Amarula is made. It’s like my Graceland. I almost pee’d myself. They give free samples, share with you a video on how it’s made and have a store where you can buy Amarula souvenirs.
If you visit during the right season, you can tour the factory where they process the Marula fruit – what Amarula is made from. The Amarula Lapa is located in Limpopo Province near the City of Phalaborwa. It’s way up in the north east near the Kruger Park.
Don’t miss out. I’m warning you.

Hey, thanks for the video. I love Amarula, ever since I cam to the states, it’s been hard to find it, thanks for this
I can find it at speciality stores. Good luck!
Why can’t we find the amarula liqueur
(not the white cream) anymore? It had about the same bottle and was produced by SOUTHERN LIQUEUR CO. I still have one of these bottles. It was superior to the cream. Can we get it again?
I’ve never heard of being able to buy just the liquor? All I know of is the cream. Let me know what you find out. I’m intrigued.
Who doesn’t love crack cocain? I mean, it’s like drinking Amarula.
U R A Nut.
Too strong of a comparison? Never had crack cocaine..but so I’ve heard. Nonetheless, Amarula is a magic drink that is creamy, smooth, tasty and delicious.
