In many ways South Africa is very similar to the United States. At first glance you’d think you’re in anytown USA. Sure there are striking differences (poverty being one of them) but the billboards, cars, architecture and music are all the same. Europe by contrast, is noticeably different.
Whenever I travel I’ve found it fun to walk into a grocery store and see what kinds of foods they have available. While South Africa may be the same on the outside, I’ve found that on the inside, they have some unique potato chip flavors that make them very different. Here’s a YouTube video of what’s available to you at the grocery store…
As you can tell, South Africans love their beef. So much so, they’ll flavor their potato chips with them! The brands I had in the video are called Simba Chips. Under the “Lay’s” Brand, they also make a Caribbean Onion and Balsamic Vinegar chip that is yummy.

Gotta love the new Lays brand korma curry flavor that they launched as a limited edition during cricket season. It’s delish!
Never had it. Sounds interesting.
